The Brazilian was a sub against Shakhtar Donetsk and came on to to be the fastest sub in the history of the Champions League to score a goal against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Real Madrid slipped up for the second match in a row at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium and got their Champions League season off to a bad start. Los Blancos weren't able to beat Shakhtar Donetsk who offered a great image at Valdebebas.

After a disastrous first half, Real Madrid almost fixed it after the break. Vinicius came on and was decisive just after Modric made it 1-3.

The Brazilian, who would sadly be a protagonist in added time by involuntarily intervening in Valverde's chopped off goal, entered into the Champions League history books beforehand.

Vinicius Junior became the fastest sub to score in the history of the Champions League. There were only 14 seconds between him coming on for Jovic and making it 2-3, who scored after a great interception and personal passage of play. The record was 15 seconds and was held by Ricken and Van der Meyde. The pity for him was that he could not celebrate with a good result from his team.
