CF Monterrey, also known as Rayados, have announced the signing of Spanish playmaker Sergio Canales from Real Betis.

Sergio Canales is now a new player for Rayados Monterrey after the Mexican club and Real Betis made the transfer of the Cantabrian footballer official at midday on Monday, who has a three-year contract worth five million euros a year. The Spanish club will receive ten million fixed, plus the possibility of another five million in variables.

This was the official statement released by the Andalusian club: "Sergio Canales has left for Rayados de Monterrey following the agreement reached between the clubs. Canales arrived at the Club in 2018 and since then, with his football and commitment, he has become a role model for the Green and Whites' fans, becoming captain of the thirteen stripes. After more than five seasons at Real Betis, Canales leaves with 207 official games in which he has scored 39 goals and provided 30 assists.

"The Real Betis captain has been a key player in the sporting growth of a group that has made history, qualifying for Europa League for the third consecutive time and winning the coveted Copa del Rey title in 2022. The Club is very grateful for the services provided by the Cantabrian player during the seasons in which he has belonged to Real Betis and wishes him the best of luck in his professional future," concludes the statement.
