Flamengo hosted Sao Paulo in a Brazilian Cup quarter-final first leg match at the Maracana.
The home side thought they had scored in the first half, but the goal was taken away by the VAR for a marginal offside. Sao Paulo drew first blood in the 47th thanks to Brenner, but Gabigol levelled the scores just two minutes later.
