VIDEO: Athletic Club beat Levante in Copa del Rey semi
Athletic Bilbao won 1-2 at Levante after extra time (2-3 aggregate) to make the final of the Copa del Rey.
Athletic Bilbao travelled to Valencia to face Levante in a Copa del Rey semi-final second leg on Thursday.
The first leg in Bilbao was 1-1 so Athletic needed to score. Levante took the lead in the 17th minute through Roger Marti, but the Basques were then awarded a penalty after 30 minutes. Raul Garcia made no mistake from the spot and it was all level. There were no more goals in the rest of the 90 minutes and the match went to extra-time. Then, Athletic got a second in the 112th minute when Alex Berenguer's strike deflected off Vukcevic and into the net. That meant Levante needed two and they were unable to get them. Athletic Bilbao will face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on 17th April at La Cartuja stadium in Sevilla. Marcelino's men will face Real Sociedad in last season's postponed final two weeks earlier at the same ground so a Copa del Rey double is possible.
