Suarez makes it 2-1 against Leganes. CAPTURA

Luis Suarez scored Barcelona's second goal after a clash with goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar that had to be reviewed by VAR.

After an excellent save by Cuellar from Lionel Messi's curling effort, the ball fell to Luis Suarez, who leapt towards the ball and poked the ball home. But as he did so his boot made contact with Cuellar's face, causing the Leganes stopper to collapse to the ground. Ricardo Bengoetxea, the match referee, had to be assisted by VAR to determine if it had been a foul by the Uruguayan. After a few moments of uncertainty, the goal was deemed valid.

The referee had given the goal straight away, and VAR had ratified the decision. Despite the images clearly showing Suarez's contact with Cuellar, the video referee decided the action was not punishable. It proved to be a decisive moment in the match, and Leganes were still complaining long after the final whistle.
