Wesley Sneijder suspects Robin van Persie is going through "hell" after being axed by Netherlands but is convinced the striker can still cut it at the highest level.
Van Persie was stripped of the Dutch captaincy in August - just over a year after starring for Oranje at World Cup 2014 - and then dropped by coach Danny Blind for this month's friendlies with Wales and Germany.
Sneider is no stranger to dark days himself, having experienced a dramatic dip in form during his time with Inter before slowly returning to his best for Galatasaray.
As a result, the attacking midfielder is in no doubt that Van Persie, who has hit just five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for Fenerbahce this season, can force his way back into the Netherlands squad.
