Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a move for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor as they look to address an emerging crisis between the posts.

Andre Onana, who had been named as first-choice under manager Ruben Amorim for the upcoming season, is expected to be sidelined for up to two months after suffering a hamstring injury. The setback has left Manchester United in urgent need of reliable cover ahead of the new campaign.

With second-choice Altay Bayindir also likely to depart this summer following a disappointing spell at Old Trafford, Amorim is short of trusted options in goal.

John Victor has now emerged as a potential solution. The 22-year-old Brazilian, who impressed during the Club World Cup, has a release clause of around £6 million in his contract — a fee the Red Devils would be willing to meet.

Botafogo are already preparing for his possible departure, aware they have little power to keep the player should the Premier League side activate the clause. As the transfer window progresses, United are expected to move quickly to secure a replacement, with Victor firmly on their radar.
