Manchester City went into their Premier League match against Tottenham wanting to put behind the midweek European disappointment and they got off to a dream start thanks to Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan.

The Brazilian striker opened the scoring just after the 20-minute mark after being picked out by an inch-perfect long ball from Vince Kompany, skipping past a few defenders before emphatically firing it past opposing goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Spurs' woes would then be compounded just three minutes later when John Moss pointed to the spot after Lloris took out Raheem Sterling on the edge of the box. Replays showed that the initial contact was outside the arena although it is unclear whether it continued inside.

Nonetheless, City had a penalty and Gundogan powered it in off the post to double the Premier League leaders advantage
