When Thomas was negotiating his departure from Atletico Madrid, Thomas' father did not hesitate in admitting that his family were waiting for an offer from a club bigger than Atletico Madrid. Fans have recalled these comments now that Arsenal, after conceding five to Man City, are bottom of the league.

When Thomas Partey was at Atletico Madrid and the end of the transfer window was drawing near, his father told  'Joy Sports' that the idea was for him to move to a bigger club than Atletico Madrid. In fact, he highlighted how happy he and his family were when his move to Arsenal was announced

They are precisely the comments that Atletico Madrid fans have revealed now that Mikel Arteta's men are bottom of the Premier League. That comes after a 5-0 defeat to Man City. In the Spanish capital, Diego Simeone's men are off to the perfect start to their title defence.

"We were waiting for a bigger club to come for Thomas. We knew about other clubs which were interested like Juventus and Chelsea. So we knew God was with us. When Arsenal announced it, we started dancing," Thomas' father said back in October 2020.

Thomas Partey, however, was not on the pitch for the match with Man City because he is injured. Mikel Arteta, who is under fire because of his team's bad results, hopes to be able to count on him soon for upcoming matches.
