Pep Guardiola, master of the beautiful game, has found glory again in the Champions League, twelve years after his last title, his success at the helm of Manchester City on Saturday erasing his past disappointments.
At 52-years-old, the Spanish manager finally closes a long chapter of disappointments in Europe, an anomaly for the man who has piled up eleven domestic titles in fourteen seasons with Barcelona, Bayern and now the Cityzens.
Although he is widely regarded as the best coach in history, Guardiola still has a few naysayers. But above all, he has the respect of his fellow coaches, including Thierry Henry.
After Manchester City's victory in the UCL final, the consultant for channel 'CBS Sport' and football legend praised his former coach at Barca: "I'm so happy for them, for Pep. Winning two trebles with two different teams... I don't want to hear any more about Pep", he declared
"Go to sleep, you don't know what you're talking about. He's the best manager/coach. Put it all together, that's what I've seen from afar for a long time and said many times. Now I want to know what the next argument will be. Stop talking," said Henry.
"This is the best coach I've ever seen and he proved it now", he finished, "Well done City, well done Pep".
