Vincenzo Morabito was Juventus' chosen intermediary to try to secure the signing of Erling Haaland in 2017. The Italian spoke to 'Tuttosport' about the frustrated signing of the Norwegian attacker.
Back in 2017, Juventus came very close to acquiring the services of a then unknown Erling Haaland, then at Molde, but in the end the operation did not come to fruition. A mistake that the 'Vecchia Signora' greatly regrets today.
Four years later, details of that frustrated transfer are being revealed, with Vincenzo Morabito, Juventus' chosen intermediary, the latest to speak to 'Tuttosport' about it.
"Despite Juventus being the only big club to have noticed Haaland's talent, they made an unbelievable request for a 17-year-old, €10 million!" he began.
"However, seeing that Haaland was attracted to Juventus, they were willing to evaluate a more reasonable proposal: 2.5 million at the time, a considerable figure for a player who had only played in Norway, and 50 per cent of a future sale," he added.
However, although the interest was not mutual, the figures were not enough to land the Norwegian in Turin. "They trusted me, aware of my knowledge of Scandinavia and in particular my good relationship with Jim Solbakken and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but it was not to be. He and his father even stayed in Turin for a few days in December 2017 to watch the derby against Inter. The family and the boy were very impressed," he said.
