Liverpool winger Luis Diaz was reunited on Tuesday in Barranquilla for the first time with his father, Luis Manuel Diaz, who was kidnapped for 12 days, as he joined the Colombian national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Paraguay.

In images published by the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), Luis Diaz is seen hugging his father for the first time after being released last Thursday by the guerrillas of the National Liberation Army (ELN), who held him hostage for 12 days.

"Welcome home Luchoooo! This was the exciting meeting of Lucho with his father Mane Diaz and his family. We love you and we are more united than ever!" the FCF published on the Twitter account of the 'Cafetera' national team.

In the photos, the 26-year-old player emotionally greets his father, who could not hold back his tears at the sight of his family member.

The scene also includes the player's mother, Cilenis Marulanda, Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo and FCF president Ramon Jesurun, among others.
