With the European heavyweight clash between Read Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain only hours away, who is likely to feature in the starting XI for both sides?

There has been a lot of speculation in the build-up to the two-legged fixture about who Zinedine Zidane and Unai Emery will be including to start off the duel on Wednesday night. While some positions are dead certains, others are more unknown.

Real Madrid

Spanish radio publication 'COPE' has been suggesting since the beginning of the week that Gareth Bale will not play a part in the game as Isco looks set to take his place in the starting line-up.

If this is indeed true, with 'BBC' not playing from the beginning, it means Zidane will go with a 4-4-2 as he looks to pack out the midfield to contend with the attacking threat of the Ligue 1 team.

Madrid's most likely starting XI: Navas; Nacho, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Modric, Kroos, Isco; Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema.

PSG

For the Parisian club there are more uncertainties. Emery has a selection headache due to his increased depth in squad thanks to performances from players such as Angel Di Maria in the build-up to the match.

'L'Equipe' have reported on Wednesday that Thiago Silva will be replaced by Presnel Kimpembe in the chosen XI which, if true, will be a big surprise given he is PSG's captain, but no position is a given in football these days.

The centre of midfield is also up for debate. Do they opt for an attacking and mobile profile such as Giovani Lo Celso or go with a holding pivot like Lass Diarra? Given the Ligue 1 leaders are away for the first leg, it appears the latter option may be more beneficial.

The final unknown is in the left-back position. 'BeIN' have indicated that Emery will choose the more attacking threat of Layvin Kurzawa, however, 'RMC' believe Yuri Berchiche will be given the nod.

PSG's most likely starting XI: Areola; Dani Alves, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Yuri; Verratti, Lass Diarra, Rabiot, Mbappe, Cavani and Neymar.
