The departure of Claudio Ranieri from Roma has created a vacancy on the bench. Rafa Benitez (Newcastle), Marco Giampaolo (Sampdoria), Maurizio Sarri (Chelsea) and Roberto De Zerbi (Sassuolo) are the favourites to take over.
According to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', Roma are working against the clock in the search for a substitute for Claudio Ranieri. Another problem for the Roma board in the middle of a rebuilding job after an awful season.
The cited media outlet sustains that Gasperini's rejection in order to stay at Atalanta means there are four names left on the table. Rafa Benítez, Marco Giampaolo, Maurizio Sarri and Roberto De Zerbi.
The biggest advantage the Sassuolo coach has is his experience coaching Italian teams. On his CV, the standout club is Napoli, a team which he coached in the 2009-10 season.
Something which the others can also boast about. The Sampdoria man coached less glamorous teams than De Zerbi, but Roma have his name if mind if he is needed because the board like him.
However, the biggest names which have been linked with the job are Sarri and Benitez. Nevertheless, the Chelsea coach may well be Allegri's replacement in Turin so the Newcastle manager is the front runner for Roma president, James Pallotta.
