Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho replaced Jadon Sancho in the 73rd minute but the Argentine player had to be replaced by Fred after picking up an injury. The 18-year-old left Old Trafford on crutches.

Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho played as a substitute in the Premier League match between Manchester United and Southampton. The 18-year-old replaced Jadon Sancho in the 73rd minute but had to leave the game in the 90th minute.

Fred replaced Garnacho, who was injured after a collision with Southampton defender Walker-Peters. The young United talent limped off to the dressing room and left Old Trafford on crutches.

United fans were concerned about him and Ten Hag spoke about his condition at the post-match press conference: "He was a little bit limping after the bad tackle. In the end they brought on another striker, a big and tall one [Paul Onuachu] and I don't want to go for risk, we were already downsized to 10 [men].

"I didn't want to go with players who were [just] 90 per cent. That's why I called him off but I think it is not too bad," the Dutchman said.
