Macclesfield equal an all-time English league record for 36 consecutive games without a win after defeat by Tranmere.

After their 1-0 defeat at Prenton Park the club have equalled an unwanted EFL record.

Macclesfield's defeat at Tranmere means that they have not won a Football League game since they were relegated from League Two in 2012, matching Derby's barren run in 2007 and 2008.

Connor Jennings squared for Harvey Gilmour to find the bottom corner from 18 yards at Prenton Park.

The club's manager, Neil Howarth, told the club's website that results will improve.

Macclesfield were National League champions in 2017-18 but are the only English Football League side yet to win this season.

If they fail to beat Carlisle next Saturday they hold the record of the longest consecutive games without a win.
