Stones and Sane back in training for City
Leroy Sane, John Stones and Phil Foden have given Pep Guardiola some welcome relief as they all returned to training on Thursday following injury layoffs.
City face Leicester in the Premier League this weekend, and with the Champions League coming back the following week their return could not have come at a better time for the blue side of Manchester.
Stones sat out the win over West Brom with an illness before a knee injury kept him out futher, while Foden had been recovering from ankle ligament damage.
Guardiola has bemoaned the pile-up of fixtures during the festive period in English football and has called on referees to do more to protect his players from challenges like the one that sidelined Sane. In their match against Burnley last week Guardiola named only six substitutes, insisting that he had no other players available to him.
Both Stones and Foden are expected to be in contention for the match this weekend, while Sane looked in good spirits as he trained with the first team group for the first time since his injury.
