Cruyff and McClaren have known each other for a long time after they both worked together at Manchester United, Cruyff as a player and the Englishman as an assistant manager.
Since March, McClaren has been without work, after coaching Championship side Derby Country, and his decision not to head to Israel is due to personal reasons.
