Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has said it is “too early” to discuss his future at the club, following a clean sheet in the 6-0 win over Al Ain, and insists his focus is on the start of the new season.

Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has avoided commenting on his immediate future after the 6-0 win over Al Ain in the Club World Cup.

The 32-year-old German goalkeeper started the match and managed to keep a clean sheet, making his 55th appearance for City since his arrival in July 2022 from Arminia Bielefeld.

Asked about his continuity at the club, Ortega replied: "It's quite early for that question. I can't say anything about that. We are at the start of the new season, so it's too early there."

Ortega's contract situation has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks. The player has made it clear that, for the time being, he prefers to focus on the start of the season and the team's immediate commitments.

Since his arrival at Manchester City, Ortega has stood out for his reliability. The English club values his professionalism and his role as a guaranteed alternative to Ederson.
