'Sky Sports' have reported that Russian striker Fydor Smolov, currently at Krasnodar, wants a move to West Ham completed before the beginning of the World Cup in his home country.

Smolov scored Russia's only goal in their 3-1 loss to France in St Petersburg on Tuesday, and sources close to the player are reporting that West Ham can 'end the cold war'

The 'Hammers' were interested last summer but Slaven Bilic opted against the deal after he deemed the player not strong enough to compete in the Premier League.

Smolov has scored 50 goals in 67 games for Krasnodar, and this form means West Ham are not the only interested party. Marseille are also paying close attention to the striker although it is believed that he would himself prefer a move to London.

He is valued at between €11 and €14million with his club already resigned to losing him.
