A strange moment in Turkish football. This Monday, Hakan Arslan was sent off at half-time of Besiktas-Sivasspor (3-0) after showing the referee a passage of play with a controversial action when the match was 1-0.

Besiktas beat Sivasspor 3-0 on Monday in the Turkish league, largely thanks to the sending off of Hakan Arslan, captain of the away side, during the break.

It would be normal if it were not for the how and why of this sending off. The midfielder saw the second yellow card for showing the referee a mobile phone!

Once the referee blew for half-time, someone gave Arslan a mobile and he showed the referee with the intention of protesting about a controversial passage of play in the first half.

Namely, the Sivasspor captain claimed that the first goal was illegal because the ball had gone out the park previously. He did so in the midst of a wild gesture, bringing the device closer to the face of the referee and his officials.

As was to be expected, far from making the referee see his mistake, what he managed to do was get sent off. Already losing, his team conceded the other two goals.
