David Silva became only the third Manchester City player to make 250 Premier League appearance for the club on Sunday and he marked the occasion by curling home a wonderful free-kick to restore his side's three-goal cushion against Huddersfield.

The Spaniard joined Richard Dunne and Joe Hart in the exclusive club and put in a sterling performance to ensure the game would always remain a memorable one.

A thorn in Huddersfield's side throughout, Silva worried more about creating chance for his team-mates in the first half, before changing tack after the interval.

Just minutes after the restart the classy playmaker scored the best goal of the game so far as he found the top corner from a dead-ball.

Ben Hamer carefully went about organising a sizeable wall in an attempt to lessen the danger, but there was nothing it could do as the 32-year-old whipped the ball over the barricade and into the top corner from 25 yards.

Silva's wife and young son were watching on from the stands, with the former barely able to contain her delight in the wake of the goal.
