Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico, who had an accident in Huelva on Sunday and is currently in the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville, suffers a serious craniocerebral traumatism and the medical team treating him is awaiting his progress over the next 48 hours.
In a statement released on Sunday by his agent company on behalf of his family, it is stated that Sergio Rico travelled "with the club's permission" from Strasbourg, where PSG secured the French League title, to Malaga and from there to El Rocio, and that, "after just over an hour and a half with his family and friends, he was on his way to the Pontifical Mass next to the chapel when he suffered an accident caused by a mule cart and a runaway horse that hit him".
"Sergio is in good hands, fighting to recover while receiving the best treatment from the entire medical team at the Hospital Virgen del Rocío. We must act with caution, especially in the next 48 hours," the statement said.
"We are awaiting the results of his evolution, which we hope will be favourable, so that we can inform you of his improvement as soon as possible," adds the statement, which also thanks "the expressions of affection, the messages and the interest of all" who are "asking about Sergio's condition". "Thank you for your support," it concludes.
