City's recent statistics suggest that Guardiola has managed to solve a selection headache, and could set the side up to take the league by storm.

It seems that Pep Guardiola has finally found the answer to the question of Aguero or Jesus: both.

City's strikers have gone from competition to companionship up front, ruthlessly linking up for five goals (two for Aguero, three for Jesus) in their last two matches. With Aguero and Jesus starting together, City have won three matches, drawn one and lost none so far this season.

The midweek 0-4 thrashing of Feyenoord continued a rich vein of form in sky blue following the 5-0 demolition of Liverpool at the Etihad.

It was during the Premier League clash that perhaps the most significant moment in the partnership's development came.

With Aguero clean through on goal, he instead opted to pick the yet safer option of passing to the oncoming Jesus, who duly finished.

"That means a lot for me, what Sergio did - a lot," said Guardiola.

"Strikers are always: 'I want to score more than my team-mate,' but it is still important to have the ability to choose the right decision, as Sergio did.

"When it happens the next time, Gabriel is going to do that for Sergio."
