The defence of Cristiano Ronaldo cited three tax inspectors as witnesses in an attempt to clear his name. However, according to 'Cadena SER', they have ratified the accusation and would instead see the Portuguese striker guilty of tax fraud.

The lawyers presented on Friday in the Court of Pozuelo their last defence to try and refute the accusation of tax fraud that is currently hanging over the Real Madrid player.

They chose to name three members of the National Office of International Taxation (ONFI) - the body autonomous from the Tax Agency.

However, the aforementioned Spanish radio station has claimed that these experts have reached the same conclusion: that Ronaldo is guilty of a fiscal crime.

A few days ago, 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that the 33-year-old had offered a blank cheque to the Treasury in exchange for the removal of a prison sentence. Although that was rejected by the Tax Agency.

Following its publication, Ronaldo took to social media to state that it was all "fake news" and that people should stop trying to ruin his beautiful sporting moment.
