The tightrope walk Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez is already to make between Bale and Ronaldo is costing the team goals

The goal drought of the Real Madrid team starts and ends with the main man himself - Christiano Ronaldo. Need we remind you that we are talking about a player who scored 61 goals in 54 games last season for 'los blancos' but it seems that this season hasn't started as planned.

Uncharacteristically - and maybe even alarming for Madrid fans - Christiano has only scored one goal in his last six games, thats 405 minutes without a goal. A statistic that looks even worse when you take his average over the last six seasons in La Liga who has averaged 1.04 goals in his 301 games.

Originally when the team sheet was planned for the Sporting Gijon match, Ronaldo was included as a central striker up top with Jese Rodriguez in a 4-4-2 diamond midfield, with Bale at the tip.

However, Ronaldo made it clear he wanted to start on the left in a 4-2-3-1, which is what Benitez started with, according to COPE.

It would seem that Cristiano feels Bale would be in his position and is a strategy from the club to leave the left forward position free for the Welshman.

It is clear that Benitez is worried about the team's balance, and something is unsettling their talisman. Only time will tell if it's just a temporary dip in form
