Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to be rested by manager Zinedine Zidane for the rearranged game against Leganes on Wednesday, with the Portuguese taking advantage of his rest by heading off on holiday.

After speaking to the player, Zidane has decided to give his star the night off on Wednesday to allow him to fully recover from his recent exertions which have seen Ronaldo return to his best form.

Whilst 'Los Blancos' are yet to confirm their squad for the game, Zidane's pre-match press conference seemed to hint that Ronaldo would not be involved. "Cristiano has been playing 60 or 70 games for 10 years. He doesn’t stop. There comes a moment when it’s necessary for everyone to not play from time to time. He’s better doing it this way and of course we talk about it," Zidane explained.

Ronaldo has never played at the Estadio Muicipal de Butarque since Leganes earned promotion to the Spanish top flight and that run will continue on Wednesday, allowing the 33-year-old some much needed rest after a run of form that has seen him score nine goals in just five games.

Keen to take advantage of his rest, Ronaldo headed off on holiday with his girlfriend, or so it seemed if his latest Instagram post was anything to go by.
