Cristiano has made history with Portugal.

It is a privileged few that make it to the peak of this list, high-scoring footballers who excelled on international duty. With his goal against Sweden Ronaldo crept into the top ten.

Despite still having a way to catch leader Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals in 149 caps for Iran, it is a remarkable accomplishment to get into the top ten highest goalscorers in international matches.

With his opener in Portugal's 3-2 defeat against Sweden, Ronaldo managed to reach 71 goals in 138 matches for his national team. This goal took him to joint-ninth in the standings, on par with Germany's Miroslav Klose, Thailand's Kiatisuk Senamuang and Saudi Arabia's Majed Abdullah.

His 18th-minute strike against Sweden also took him to joint-third in the European ranking, level with Miroslav Klose, but behind Hungarian legends Ferenc Puskas, 84 goals, and Sandor Kocsis, 75 goals.
