Cristiano Ronaldo guided the ball into the back of the net with his head to extend Real Madrid's advantage over Villarreal in their final league game of the season.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring with a low strike just after the 10-minute mark, continuing his prolific form of late.

However, he would be joined on the scoresheet by Ronaldo two-thirds into the first half at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Marcelo floated in an inviting cross into the box which needed just a guiding header from the Portuguese superstar to send the ball flying into the bottom corner.

Zinedine Zidane will be pleased to see two of his forwards score in what will be their final match before facing Liverpool in the final of the Champions League on May 26.
