The Portuguese is closing in on the number of goals the legendary Brazilian scored at internaitonal level.

The 32-year-old is just 3 goals behind the former Santos man in terms of goals scored for their national teams. Pele scored 77 goals in 92 games for Brazil.

Ronaldo is currently on 74 goals from 141 games for Portugal but with his form showing no signs of declining, it seems like a question of when he catches and surpasses the Brazilian, rather than if.

If Ronaldo were to score one more for Portugal, he would equal Sandor Kocsis who scored 75 goals in just 68 games for Hungary in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

However, both trail former Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puscas and Ali Daei who holds the record, having scored an incredible 109 goals for Iran during the course of his career.

Neymar has the best chance of anyone currently active of breaking Daei's record, having already scored 52 goals for his national team at the age of just 25.
