Is it a coincidence? Some people think that the news of the Ronaldo's potential departure from Madrid was leaked during the summer with the aim of securing the player an improved contract, something which is now very close to becoming a reality.

The Real Madrid forward currently earns €22m per season after tax, and this new deal would see an increase in €8m per year so he would reach an annual salary of €30m.
