Real Madrid made waves when they committed to spending €45m on then 16-year-old Vinicius Junior, but the Spanish giants are now growing concerned with their investment...

In Brazil, people are still hunting for an answer to the million-pound question: Why isn't Vinicius starting games?, with none of the answers given so far quite seeming to stack up.

Real pledged a huge sum to sign the starlet, but Flamengo boss Reinaldo Rueda has not handed the player a start since August 19.

'UOL' claims that Rueda only sees the player as a 'super-sub', who can come on late and damage tiring defences.

The 60-year-old remains unconvinced by Vincius' defensive capabilities, instead preferring to start with more disciplined players before turning to Vinicius when the game becomes more stretched.

However, the Flamengo fans remain unconvinced by this claim, and have been calling for the player to feature more.

Vinicius has made just four starts in 32 appearances this season, something that is understood to be frustrating the powers that be at Real Madrid who are keen to see their investment develop in the way predicted.
