It was in the Nations League clash which Spain were losing. Luis Enrique's men began the game losing after a lack of communication in defence which the opponents took advantage of. The central defender had a clear opportunity to level from 12 yards, but he failed to convert it.

Ramos himself won the penalty. He was doing his best to get an equaliser and he was going into then Swiss box a lot to shoot from crosses. On one occasion, the ball struck a defender on the arm and the referee pointed to the spot.

Ramos missed it. Sommer went the right way. He hit a low shot down to the keeper's right and Sommer read it perfectly. He saved the ball and prevented Ramos from scoring. That was the first spot kick he had missed since 9th May 2018 against Sevilla. He fell one short of Cristiano Ronaldo's record.
