Ramos left out of Madrid's squad to face Girona
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has not recovered from his injury woes in time to make Zinedine Zidane's squad for their home fixture against Girona on Sunday.
The Spanish defender had been limited to gym work all week but had returned to training on Saturday in an attempt to be fit for the La Liga clash at the Bernabeu.
However, Zidane has opted to rest his skipper and instead will most likely go with a Nacho-Varane centre-back partnership against Girona, as Jesus Vallejo returns from two months out with a hamstring injury to take Ramos' place in the squad
Good news for Madrid though is that Luka Modric and Gareth Bale have all overcome their fitness concerns to join their team-mates in an 18-man squad for the home fixture.
But there is still no place for Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente and Achraf Hakimi as Zidane goes with his seasoned pros for the league game.

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez.
