A group of Atletico Madrid fans, in the run-up to the derby against Real Madrid, gathered outside the Civitas Metropolitano chanting against Vinicius: "You're a monkey, Vinicius you're a monkey".

A derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid is a different kind of match, a match in which the two main fans of Madrid should face each other in a peaceful way, in which football prevails over hatred and racism.

Before the start of the Madrid derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, some Atletico fans gathered outside the Civitas Metropolitano to chant against Vinicius.

"You're a monkey, Vinicius, you're a monkey," chanted the Atletico Madrid fans. Over the last few days, Real Madrid's Brazilian winger received the support of many of his compatriots in the Brazilian national team, such as Gabriel Jesus, Neymar and his teammate Militao. What's more, even 'O Rey' Pele supported the Brazilian.

Given Vinicius' response on social media to the racism he suffered, Real Madrid also took part in this, as "the club have  instructed their legal services to take legal action against anyone who makes racist remarks towards its players". We'll see how this all ends as, in the face of racist chants during the derby, Atletico Madrid may help track down those who incite hatred, racism and xenophobia.
