Four days after their Champions League upset, Ajax has tried to forget the pain by winning the Dutch League virtually after their 4-1 victory against Utrech and PSV's 1-0 loss against AZ Alkmaar. They've won the league trophy again after 5 seasons, and are on the way to a guaranteed double with the Dutch Cup.

Despite both results and the difference in points that separates them (three), Ajax still can now boast of being mathematical champion ... However, they are now virtual champions, which is practically the same but without that 100% security that gives the pure statistics.

In order for PSV to reach the last round of the league with chances, they only had to score, but they failed to do so, as they lost to AZ Alkmaar in a very closed match that could only be unbalanced with a goal from Til at the beginning of the second half.

Ajax, who were playing at the same time, did not miss their chance to give this almost final blow to the Dutch League and won 4-1 thanks to goals from Huntelaar, Van de Beek and Tadic's double. Utrecht took the lead in the first minute but fell apart the rest of the match.

In leagues that value ttake the goal average into account, particular between the teans tied in points, PSV could still win the title in the last date, something alsmot impossible for the Dutch league.

In order for Ten Hag's team to miss the title, they would have to lose against De Graafschap and for PSV to win.

In addition, the impossible string of events would only work if PSV won and Ajax lost, but if Ten Hag's side manage to score (draw or win) there would no longer be any miracle for the second-placed side and Ajax would secure the league after five years of drought.
