Players with a point to prove this season in the Premier League
As clubs start to get their pre-season preparations underway, we take a look at some players who have a point to prove this season.
Theo Walcott
Wth rumours swirling about Walcott's future at the Emirates, there is no guarantee he will still be an Arsenal player next season. If he is though, he will surely be looking to improve on his tally of 10 Premier League goals last seaosn. With the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette likely to lead to less opportunities in his favoured striking position.
Tom Ince
Years after the famed 'interest from Inter Milan' Ince has finally got himself a shot at the top division. Over the past few seasons, the 25-year-old has proved himself to be one of the best wingers outside of the top flight, but he'll be hoping to shake that moniker and prove that he is good enough for Premier League football.
Will Hughes
A few years ago Hughes was considered one of the birghtest young talents in English football, however after an injury hit couple of years his stock has dropped considerably. There were still plenty of signs that the 22-year-old can make the step up after a series of promising displays for England at the U21 European Championships this summer.
Tammy Abraham
The Chelsea loanee proved himself in the Championship with Bristol City last season, plundering 26 goals in all competitions. Now he has to show he has what it takes to step up to the Premier League. At just 19, Abraham has time on his side, but both Swansea and parent club Chelsea will be hoping to see at least some positive signs over the course of the coming season.
Paul Pogba
Pogba came in for criticism last season, most of it associated with his price tag. With United having spent big on Romelu Lukaku, that should ease the pressur on Pogba and with the club returning to the Champions League this season, the French midfielder has a chance to prove his worth on the biggest club stage there is.
Sergio Aguero
City's talisman surprisingly lost his place last season following the arrival of Garbiel Jesus. The Argentinian hitman will be keen to show that he still has what it takes to keep the Brazilian out of the side and be City's main man.
Gabriel Jesus
Speak of the devil, Jesus enjoyed a fantastic start to life in the Premier League last season, scoring 7 and assisting 4 in just 10 League games. The young Brazilian will be keen to prove that it was not just a flash in the pan.
Romelu Lukaku
As with all big-money signings, the spotlight will be very much on Lukaku. Make an impact early on and it will be money well spent, fail to do so and you risk being slaughtered in the press.
