After the news that Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero gave an "abnormal result" in a drugs test after the match against Argentina, 'ESPN' has reported that this could lead to the South American country being disqualified from their World Cup play-off.

Alarm bells are ringing in Peru. That is because the 'Franjirroja', who are set to play New Zealand in a play-off to secure qualification to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, could in fact be disqualified.

The disqualification would be down to the alleged doping fo Peru's all-time top scorer Pablo Guerrero after the South American qualifier against Argentina.

The aforementioned source reported the shocking news, and claims that if the alleged positive drugs test is proved to be true, FIFA will stop Peru from competing in the play-off, meaning New Zealand weill automatically qualify for the World Cup.

The future of the 'Franjirroja' now depends on the 'abnormal result' of Guerrero's post-match drugs test.
