Pelayo seriously injured after three-storey fall

Albacete footballer Pelayo Novo has been seriously injured after falling from the third-floor of a hotel.

Pelayo was staying with the team at the ABBA hotel in Huesca, when the incident occurred.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are not yet known. According to 'Marca', the midfielder fell from the third-floor onto an interior courtyard patio.

His team-mates Ruben Mino and Susaeta were the first on the scene, who according to the publication, stayed with him until paramedics arrived.

Albacete released a statement on their official website and social media pages. 

It read: ''Our player, Pelayo Novo, suffered a terrible accident at the team's hotel in the morning, and our player, who is stable, is being transferred to Zaragoza Hospital accompanied by the medical staff of the Club. We will promptly inform everyone regarding Pelayo's condition in due course. Albacete Balompie in turn wants to thank SD Huesca for their closeness, interest and willingness to help, as well as the League, other clubs, institutions and other sports organisations that have been interested in the recovery of our footballer."

Meanwhile, Huesca offered their full support to the club and player, wishing him a speedy recovery. The clash between Huesca and Albacete was scheduled to kick-off at 8pm on Saturday but has since been postponed.
