Roma won an important victory in their struggle for Europe by beating, with goals from Spinazzola and Pedro, a Fiorentina that ended the game with ten men.
Spain's Pedro Rodriguez celebrated his third goal in the Roma jersey on Sunday, in a 2-0 win over Fiorentina at the Estadio Olimpico in the capital, which brought Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca's team closer to the European places in Serie A.
A goal by Leonardo Spinazzola in the 12th minute, after an assist by goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, which was converted by Pedro 20 minutes from time with a comfortable shot from the Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan's low shot, decided the match in favour of Roma.
For Pedro, who arrived in Roma free after his contract with Chelsea expired, it was the third goal in this Serie A after those scored against Udinese and Benevento.
The team, which got stalled in the Europa League against the modest CSKA Sofia last Thursday, added its third victory in the last four league games and reached Napoli and Inter in the standings, five points behind the leader Milan.
Fonseca bet on Pedro as a starter and replaced him in the 72nd minute with his compatriot Carles Perez, while the team's other Spaniards, Gonzalo Villar, Pau Lopez and Borja Mayoral, were on the bench for the full 90 minutes.
