A dangerous Alex Iwobi cross, which was targeted to find Lacazette, reached Cathcart at the near post.
The 29-year-old tried to clear the ball, however the ball defected off his foot and went in for a goal.
Minutes later, Ozil had doubled the lead.
The former Germany international met a Lacazette cross and confidently blazed the ball past Ben Foster in the Watford goal.
