Only three European teams can keep up with Barcelona
Ernesto Valverde's Barcelona has got off to a whirlwind start to the season, taking everyone by surprise. In the big European leagues, only PSG, Napoli and Manchester City are at a similar level.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City is a comparable case. The former Barcelona manager has taken the Citizens to the top of the Premier League with the same 34 points as Valverde's team after 11 wins and one draw.
PSG and Napoli follow closely: 35 points after 13 fixtures, having also won 11 games but with two draws to their name.
Four teams who have surpassed the 30-point mark in the biggest leagues in Europe, even though France and Italy have played 13 fixtures. For that reason, Serie A sides Juventus, Roma and Inter have also managed to exceed said number.
In Spain, Valencia's win over Espanyol takes their total points tally this season up to 30, four behind leaders Barcelona. The side managed by Marcelino are undefeated much like the top four European clubs, and Atletico Madrid. Inter are also yet to lose a game in the domestic competition, but these teams have been held to too many draws to keep up with the four league leaders.
