Crystal Palace have officially secured a huge coup after capturing German midfielder Max Meyer on a free transfer.

Meyer becomes the club's third signing of the summer following the signings of Vicente Guaita and Cheikhou Kouyate from Getafe and West Ham respectively.

The 22-year-old has been available on a bosman since leaving Bundesliga runners-up Schalke at the end of last season and has been handed the No. 7 shirt at Selhurst Park.

the Germany international has signed a three-year deal with the club and speaking to Palace official website, he said he couldn't wait to get started.

"I feel really good and I'm happy to be here. I can't wait to start training with the team and I hope I'll have a good season," he explained.

"I'm proud to be here and I hope I can make the next step in my career. I want to give my best and I think we can have a good season - maybe better than the last.

"I played at Selhurst Park last season for Schalke and the atmosphere was perfect, and I can't wait to experience the atmosphere for a Premier League game."

Despite his tender years, Meyer has copious top-level experience, having made almost 200 appearances for Schalke after coming through the academy, as well as featuring in the Champions League.
