Alvaro Morata is heading back to Serie A. Como 1907 have officially announced the signing of the Spain captain on loan with an obligatory purchase clause, bringing him under the guidance of former national team and Chelsea teammate Cesc Fabregas.

The Lombardy-based club highlighted Morata's career pedigree in their statement: "Como 1907 announce the arrival of Alvaro Morata on loan with an obligation to buy. A striker developed at some of the best clubs in the world, with experience at Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and the Spanish national team."

The 32-year-old striker is already registered in Serie A on loan from AC Milan to the Lariani — even before all parties officially announced the agreement. The move was a complex four-way operation involving Milan (Morata's parent club), Galatasaray (where he was on loan until 2026), Como, and the player himself.

Galatasaray confirmed the early termination of his contract, after which Morata bid farewell to the fans while expressing frustration with the Turkish club's hierarchy.

"There were times when the word given and respect for fundamental values were not upheld. Commitments made were not fulfilled, to the point where I had no choice but to forgo part of my salary and other contractual rights I had earned through my work," he wrote on social media.

The move also reunites him with Fabregas, with whom he shared the pitch for Spain and Chelsea.

After spells at Juventus and Milan, where he scored six goals last season, Morata returns to Italian football following a brief stint in Turkey.

His arrival aligns with Como's recent strategy of combining youthful energy with experienced leaders, a policy previously reflected in signings such as Raphael Varane, Dele Alli and Reina.

Last season, Como surprised many on their top-flight return after 21 years, finishing 10th. With Nico Paz leading on the pitch and Fabregas on the bench, the side played some of the most attack-minded football in Serie A.

Now, with Morata spearheading the attack, the Lariani are aiming to push for European qualification.
