Wolves have announced the signing of Joao Gomes, who played for Flamengo. The midfielder will play for Lopetegui's side until 2028 and his signing cost 17 million euros.
The Flamengo player signs for Wolves on a five-and-a-half-year deal. The transfer has cost 17 million euros, according to 'Sky Sports'. Gomes, who won the Copa Libertadores last year, moved to Molineux despite interest from Lyon, becoming the sixth signing Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui has made in the January transfer window. The 21-year-old Brazilian's transfer is subject to a work permit and international clearance.
This signing could mean the departure of Ruben Neves, who is on Barcelona's agenda. Joao Gomes landed in England on Sunday, before completing his introductions and medical tests.
The midfielder is known for his energy and commitment, playing 41 competitive matches last season for his hometown team, who he now departs for the Premier League. He was a regular fixture in the midfield at Flamengo and is expected to be a key player for Lopetegui.
The Brazilian team are delighted with the transfer as they have sold the player for two million euros more than expected, as his market value was 15.7 million euros.
Wolves are currently 17th in the Premier League, level on points with Bournemouth, who are in the relegation zone.
