Everton will not hand a debut to record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson in Thursday's Europa League play-off round first-leg against Hajduk Split.

Everton's new record signing, which was confirmed on Wednesday, will have to wait a little bit longer to make his club debut.

Ronald Koeman confirmed that the £45m signing is not fit enough to make an immediate debut.

Fellow summer signing Sandro is a doubt after picking up a heel injury while midfielder James McCarthy is set to miss out with a knock to his knee.

Koeman insists he won't rest anyone for Monday's league match against Manchester City and he will pick his strongest team.

"We don't reserve people for Monday. We like to be part of Europe. We will put a strong team in."

In reference to their opponents, currently second in the Croatian table after 5 games, the Everton boss said:  "We know a lot about them. My brother [and assistant] Erwin watched their game away to Dinamo Zagreb [on 6 August].

"We have videos of them. They do not have any secrets from us and we do not have any from them. They are physically strong at the back."
