Newcastle close in on Stoke reject
Newcastle are set to confirm the signing of Stoke striker Joselu, after the German-born Spaniard completed a medical on Tyneside.
The signing will come as a welcome boost for Rafa Benitez, who has been growing frustrated with his side's lack of progress in the transfer market.
Newcastle are expected to pay around £5m for the 27-year-old, who managed just four goals in 27 appearances for Stoke since joining from Hannover two years ago.
The striker spent last season on loan in Spain, scoring five goals in 20 La Liga games for Deportivo La Coruña.
Joselu was on the books at Real Madrid earlier in his career and scored on his only appearance for 'los blancos' in an 8-1 win over Almería, what Newcastle fans would give for a goal-a-game strike rate at St James' Park this season from the forward.
