Jose Mourinho spoke to the press after his team's 5-2 rout over LA Galaxy, and he referred to Real Madrid stars Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo.

With the Portuguese manager hoping for further signings to bolster his ranks, he completely dismissed the possibility of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

'We have never thought about it because he is too much of an important player for his club, of great economic power', he said.

'We have not been able to find for whatever reason anything that could have made us think that Ronaldo could leave'.

'I'm not going to waste my time thinking about players who are mission impossible'.

Mourinho gave vice-chairman Ed Woodward a list of transfer targets at the end of last season, hoping to bring in at least four top-quality additions. Ronaldo did not figure on that list, but teammate Morata did.

A move for the Spaniard finally proved unsuccessful with the Red Devils opting to sign Romelu Lukaku: 'He belongs to Madrid', Mourinho said about the Spanish striker. 'Madrid have decided and we have not come to an agreement. It is simple. It is a shame'.

'He is a player who made it to the first team with me. We have a special liking for him, he is someone special. I enjoyed watching his evolution at Juventus and Madrid'.

'It is like that. I don't think he can end with us', the former Madrid boss concluded.
