Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has been spotted at Middlesbrough's Rockliffe Park training ground as the club close in on a loan move for the out-of-favour star.

The Teessiders were close to completing the signing of the 29-year-old on deadline day, but the player put talks on hold in the hope of a late swoop from a Premier League side.

However, no such interest came to fruition and with Premier League clubs no longer able to bring in new players it is Boro who are favourites for his signature.

The sale of Adama Traore to Wolves left the club short of at least a winger, whilst a replacement is thought to be the only thing preventing Marvin Johnson from being allowed to leave the club on loan.

Bolasie held face-to-face talks with Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis, who he also worked with a Crystal Palace, on Monday, whilst his DR Congo team-mate Britt Assombalonga is also on the books on Teesside.

The deal in the offing is a season-long loan move that could involve an option for Boro to make the deal permanent.

Bolasie only joined Everton from Crystal Palace for £25m in 2016, but the signings of Bernard, Theo Walcott and Richarlison since the turn of the year have pushed him down the pecking order at Goodison Park and he is now thought to be surplus to requirements.
