Mariano Diaz had a successful operation on the bones he fractured in his nose in the game against Elche at the Martinez Valero. He will wear a protective mask for 10 days and he will not be able to play during that time. However, he will be able to train individually as there is no contact with other people.

Mariano started the game against Elche. Real Madrid took home the three points 1-2, but they suffered a major scare.

A nasty landing after Mariano jumped for the ball in added time led to him needing four stitches and suffering a fractured nose. The doctos put it back in place, but he had to go to theatre.

The operation was a success, Real Madrid sources told 'EFE'. After having the bones in his nose put back in place, the player will have to wear a protective mask for 10 days. Mariano will be able to train and do exercise which does not involve contact. After that period of time is over, he will return to the group and he could reappear wearing a protective mask.

Rodrygo, who suffered a hamstring problem, will have an MRI scan on Monday or Tuesday, depending on how he is. The Brazilian will miss Wednesday's Champions League game with Shakhtar.

In the meantime, the Brazilian midfielder is recovering well from the major blow which he received in the nose against Elche and he will have no problem in starting the European fixture.
